Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead Has an Unusual Justice League Cameo

It was revealed that hidden in Zack Snyder's new zombie/heist film Army of the Dead is an Easter egg only Justice League fans could notice.

Zack Snyder has hidden a Justice League Easter egg in his upcoming zombie/heist movie Army of The Dead.
Described by Snyder as a “spiritual successor” to his debut film Dawn of the Dead, Army of the Dead tells the story of a group of mercenaries who attempt to rob a casino during a zombie apocalypse. Based on a collection of promotional material posted to Twitter, it seems the crew ends up finding more than cash in the vault. While the cast of Army of the Dead is center-focused, hidden in the corner of the frame appears to be film reels of the long-awaited Snyder Cut of the Justice League.

Included in the photoset was the image of what looks like those same encased film reels Snyder shared in 2020 labeled “Z.S. – JL DIRECTOR’S CUT,” along with the running time. Overlapping the photo are the words “Is it real? Does it exist? Of course it does.”

Despite being widely regarded as a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release, myth and anticipation have surrounded the extended edition of Justice League, the release of which was made possible mostly due to the fan-led #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement. Fans have now begun petitioning Warner Bros. for more SnyderVerse projects in the DC Extended Universe using the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. Snyder has already promised that 2021 will bring a firm release date, a new trailer and the full four-hour director’s cut premiering in four one-hour installments on HBO Max sometime in March.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The four-part miniseries premieres on HBO Max in March.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film has yet to receive a release date.
